About us
For more than 20 years now we have been involved in the manufacture and distribution of model components for all aspects of model making. The major part of our model business these days is in the production and design of gearboxes and gears for the 7 mm market. When you see our gearboxes the quality of the engineering will tell you why top modellers all over the world now prefer them to other manufacturers offerings. Throughout the design and manufacturing process the best engineering practices have been employed, the gearboxes are designed using CAD/CAM programs, produced using a single piece of metal and made on the most modern multi axis CNC machines which are so accurate that they adjust for tool wear thereby guaranteeing accuracy at all times. The gears are designed and produced for us by one of the top gear manufacturing companies in Europe, the quality and efficiency of the gears meet the highest standard. This solid design of cradle ensures the gears are accurately aligned and spaced at the correct working centres by eliminating all of the problems that are associated with hand or jig assembled boxes where gears can often become miss-aligned leading to poor running. Maintenance is one of the key design features and our gearboxes can be stripped down within minutes, often still in the loco chassis, to allow the gears to be cleaned and replaced and alignment is maintained on re-assembly, no need to return the gear box to carry out repairs. Whilst our range appears small in comparison to others we believe that we cater for more tastes than any other manufacturer, no one else covers both worm & wheel and helical gearboxes. Compare our helical boxes along side those from other manufacturers and you will soon see that our small range will cover 90% of the configurations offered by others. As for ratios we keep things simple by offering only sensible steps of reduction, we don't offer closely spaced ratio's (e.g. 50:1, 48:1, 46:1 etc) as the difference between these will often be swamped by the effects of the controller employed. We also have a range of motors & gearboxes for
special applications. from very slow motors for turntables, slow running
for shunters and have even solved problems for complex movements on model
fairground rides. We also stock a range of motors from the traditional
iron cored motor, typified by the Canon & Mashima ranges to Neodymium
rare earth magnet coreless motors by Maxon: See
